whats a good double din head unit for 2003 vw passat

I just bought a 2003 vw passat gl sedan with 1.8 turbo engine and i want to begin with a head unit replacment first . It has the monsoon sound system i think ? . I think the stock speakers are bose are they decent ? can they handle a amp and still sound good ? I was thinking of down the road replacing all the speakers and adding a small sub with an amp .
