I'm new to this whole car audio thing, obviously. But I wanna replace my speakers in my car w/good ones, n was wondering what you guys suggest to get...? Also, I'm gettin a JL 12W6v2 for my sub. (Here come's important pary lol -->) I need a nice amp that'll push my speakers n sub, n need help on what to get. I was thinkin about JBL 1200.1 or Orion HCCA G4 or Audiobahn 1800D or Visonik 900D, I really don't know, these r just one's I've heard good things about. So, whatchya think?

I have Infiniti Reference speakers, they are really clean and crisp, I would suggest those or maybe the higher Infiniti models, for an amp you want something around 60 watts x4 rms, what can that sub take, 400 watts?

Well If you're looking for an amp for that sub..the 1200.1 is too much..I've got a rockford 500s that'd do you nicely, only 2 months old, 579 watts rms..make me an offer..

Ok...if those amps are too powerful...then what do u guys suggest? I just want a really good one w/nice sound and will last a while.

If you want a single amp to power your speakers and sub, you have some limitations. The amp will have to be running at 4 ohms since that is your speaker impedance and its not a good thing to wire those in parallel for a 2 ohm load. This also means that your sub will have to be wired at 4 ohm, so you will have to get the dual 2 ohm version of the W6V2.

Are you poweing 1 pair of speakers and a sub, or 2 pairs of speakers and a sub? I could give you some suggestions on an amp knowing this information

Uh, at first it'll probably be just one set of speakers, but it all depends on the price. If I can get two sets for a reasonable price then that's what I'll get, I just don't know, since I still really don't know what kinda speakers to get. So, suggestions for both would be nice.

Well, if you are set on having a single amp to power the speakers and sub, youll have to decide on the speakers before getting the amp, so you know whether to get a 5 channel or 3 channel. You might want to consider getting a separate amp for your sub, and getting another amp for your speakers when you decide what you are going to be powering - doing so would provide you with more options in terms of what amps you can buy. As far as speaker brands - Infinity, MB Quart, CDT, Boston Acoustics, JL Audio, Cerwin-Vega, etc etc. There are plenty of decent brands out there, higher end will cost you a little bit more money. Your best bet would be to go to a shop, bring a CD of music you listen to and listen to the songs on different brands and see which sounds best to you. What might sound great to me can sound like crap to another person. And once you find a brand you like, check http://www.etronics.com for them, they will most likely have a much lower price than the local shop.

I'm not really SET on having a single amp power my speakers and sub. It might be no prob gettin seperate amps for my subs n speakers. From what I found out about the speakers u guys have suggested I'm thinkin about some Infinity reference series (exactly what model still unsure). I still kinda like the thought of the JL Audio sub though. So what two amps should I get to power 'em? (Sorry if I ask over n over, I don't mean to sound like an idiot) n I DO plan to go down to our audio store n talk to the guys, I just wanna have some idea of what I plan to get before I go, so I can give 'em sumthin to work w/.

I'd look into the Kappas over the Reference. A little more money, but well worth it.

You can do much better than the JL for less money. Look at Elemental Designs (http://www.edesignaudio.com) or the Adire Shiva (http://www.adireaudio.com). Both have just as good as SQ as the JL, have higher RMS and thus much more SPL, and they cost less.
