What would you do?

Alright a few months back I had a shop install my jlW7 in a custombuilt box, 2 amps, and my mid's. Yesterday I took my car to one of the best installers in Houston to have a new set of components installed and he told me about 100 things wrong with the first install I had had. I'm trying to remember mostly what he said but the main things were that all the wrong wires were used including a yard elecrtical wire for the power (I think, is that the big one?) that I had left in m trunk, and the port on the box was way too short. Also in tweeter mount, they had stuffed a plastic bag behind the tweeter for some reason, and in general my car is at a big risk of catching fire. I was charged $500 for the install (including the poorly built custom box) and he told me that they should have replaced all my wires for that price.

What would you do in this situation? Is it all my fault for being naive? Should I go to them, explain the problems and ask for a refund? What if they just laugh at me.. is there any way to report them to the BB? Also if they refuse to offer a refund can I involve the law because my car is at risk of catching fire any minute?

Post your opinions

Your not likely to recieve a refund.

I don't understand the power wire part? The plastic bag was probably to protect it from the rain water, port being to short will just tune the box higher. Nothing to bad.

Remeber the shop you are at now could be "saying" all this just to charge you labor to correct it FYI...

Theres nothing wrong with what they did, really. Looks to me they just used odd scraps of wire instead of actual speaker/power wire. And the black tape was just to mark the wire as the ground or whatever.

That's just the ghetto way of doing it. Wire is wire and that one works so...

Don't waste the labor cost and re-run the wire your self. You will save a bundle and it is very easy and satisfying.

Well the fact is that I paid nearly $600 for the install job and shouldn't they have used the right type of wire? Not just what was laying around in trunk allready from a previous install?

Read above post.

I would go back to the shop and have them re-do it. How long ago was this install? Hopefully no more than 3 weeks.

Edit- just re-read a few months back. Probably to long of a time frame to be able to do anything about the original install. Feal better. At least you are getting it fixed:)

It was like 3 months ago, read my first post //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif.

I still have original receipts though.

Yeah, if you paid them that much money there is no excuse for them not to do it correctly. $600 is serious business. I could have done that install for you better. Don't let them get away with it.

Which is the exact point of this thread lol..

How would you go about doing it? Threaten to go to the BB? Threaten to post the pics on their forum sites and show the rest of Houston how shitty their work is?
