What would you do/ scam?

Take the cashiers check to your bank, Tell them the whole story. They should be able to tell if it is legit or not. Al the very least they will be able to give you the best advise on this matter. Bottom line I wouldn't let the rims out of your possession of give any money till it is properly investigated.

I can't believe people are this stupid...
Who me? I dont sell anything on the net just to people I know. This is the first time I tried to sell anything on the net. As you can tell by my post count I dont spen alot of time on the net. Non of this was disclosed before today. Lots of people have their own business, I told him I wasnt sure in the first place.

Its a really really old freakin scam.

Tell the guy yeah and string him along for fun. Send him 4 stock rims from a 72 pinto or something. ( as long as it costs no money )

As I said once I found out what was going on I told that guy I was going to deny it. He said hes legit ya ok. He kept beating around the bush so I told him I wont accept it. According to the tracking number it hasnt left yet so I told him to get his package back since I will deny it anyways

C'mon.... this is a KNOWN scam.
btw - cashiers checks are the easiest to forge.
Thats what I dont get about it. When we did our house loan for closing cost we needed a cashiers check to close on it. We had to have cash right there in our hands for any type of transaction. I guess people just forge the and be done huh. Again none of this was said until today. Maybe one day Ill get a job wher I can check the net all day but I dont have that right now

My dumb younger brother almost got scammed this way. He even took the check to the issuers bank, they said it was fine to cash. He deposit it to his bank account, about a week later his bank called him and said the check was fake.

STAY AWAY!!!!

distant person offers a genuine-looking (but fake) cashier's check

you receive an email (examples below) offering to buy your item, or rent your apartment, sight unseen.

cashier's check is offered for your sale item, as a deposit for an apartment, or for just about anything else of value.

value of cashier's check often far exceeds your item - scammer offers to "trust" you, and asks you to wire the balance via money transfer service

banks will often cash these fake checks AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE WHEN THE CHECK FAILS TO CLEAR, including criminal prosecution in some cases!

scam often involves a 3rd party (shipping agent, business associate owing buyer money, etc)

That is straight off the craigslist website:
