What would you do if.....?

I'd personally invest in a new head unit. Since that's not what you're wanting. I'd get a P5002. That's IF you have the dual 2 ohm version. If you have the dual 4 ohm version, I'd look into a Kenwood KAC-8103D.

I'd look into Pioneer or Alpine if you don't care too much about a budget, but want to keep it rather low. If you want to keep it lower, I'd look into Blaupunkt, or some JVC head units. I have a JVC that's from the U.K. and it's an AMAZING head unit, probably my favorite to date, except for the single RCA output...

should i go by the output power or does the brand really have something to do with the sound quality? I never really thought it matter what HU i have. What should i ook for in a HU?

I would personally look for a head unit with 3 pre-outs. Those pre-outs would be best if they were HPV (High Pre-Out Voltage) I.e. something with 3 8v pre-outs would be best, if you can afford it, if not, look for something with atleast 4v preouts. Eclipse would be a good choice.

The Eclipse deck I'm running is the best sounding deck I've heard (not saying that It's the absolute best). The sound quality out of it compared to some of the other brands I've heard and had (JVC, Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic, Kenwood) is quite a bit better with really good tuning capabilities. My opinion: Spend money on the HU, then upgrade the rest.
