i have a choice of 2 12 type r's(2ohms or 4 ohms) and own a hifonics 1600d amp(1600 at 1, 1100 at 2, 550 at 4) the type r's have a max rms rating at 500 each should i run them at 2 ohms or at 1 ohm and have the gain lower

run them at 1ohm they will enjoy the extra power thouroughly

my only concern is the extra load on my alternator, all i have at the moment is a capacitor on two amps one for highs and the hifonics

my malibu runs fine stock with about 1300-1400 rms
