What would happen?

Maybe this has been done or somebody has asked before, but I was just wondering. What would happen if you put a subwoofer in a vacuum sealed box (like you take all the air out of the box). Would that mess up the speaker because it would have normal atmospheric pressure on one side, then no pressure on the other side? This would make it harder for the speaker to move out. Would it make it sound better or worse?

well if it was actually at vacuum ( 0mt, hell even at 20mt) the cone would be bottomed out at xmech. You would need a sub with rediculous Bl and shltloads of power just to get the sub to move the slightest bit forward. in other words, not a good idea.

actually now that i think about it, the force of the vacuum (anything below 1t) would probably rip the cone right off the surround.
