What would cause an amp to only work sometimes?

Hey,

I have been trying to repair my system and I have narrowed it down to the amp, everything else has been ruled out and tested. The amp has been tested to be faulty BUT every now and then it will start to work randomly.

It always powers on and appears fine but it usually doesn't give any output even if its receiving an input. Except for every now and then it will work for 1-5 minutes then stop working again.

I want to try and repair the amp so my question is what about an amp could be causing it to work for like 1-5 minutes at seemingly random times but not work most of the time?

I would just buy a new amp but the fact that it works sometimes makes me think that it's not all broken.

What do you guys think?

take it apart and check the board.. i had an amp do the same thing and my power mofset had been shacken loose and needed re-sudered

Loose ground/power/remote/RCA's...

You mean the internal terminals might be loose? I'll open it up and see if anything is loose, which I have already done but I'll be a little more aggressive this time.

Anything else to look for other than loose stuff?

send it in for 75 bucks and it will come back good as new
