What would be efficient for 18" BTL?

So the times come where i'm tired of having this big box sitting in my backseat. The box I built was just barely too tall and too wide to fit into the trunk. My original box was 16"tall x 35" wide x 30" deep. If I were to get a box built at 15" tall x 32-33" wide x 28" deep, what kind of Net volume could I be expecting? Id want it to be double baffled. And would this Net volume be good for the sub or would I be better off giving that space to a 15"? Id want tuning at 33hz

Thanks in advance for help;)

Right around 6.52 cubes net before all displacements. (sub, double baffle, bracing)

18" could work.

If you went 15" you could make it much smaller. Such as 15h x 33w x 18d still gives you 4.06 cubes net before displacements.

So 6.52 before sub, baffle, and bracing displacements. Does the 6.52 include the port displacement as well? Also if it makes a difference im running 3K watts on it. I heard the more power you run to it the smaller the box can be or something like that.

on1wheel01 yea I originally thought this box I made would fit and I was gona be just fine with it. Once it didnt fit even after I lowered the plans for height from 18" to 16" I was worried.

So the net volume the sub will actually see will probably be 6cubes or lower. Is that ok on 3K watts? Any more opinion on it?

The net volume will end up being a lot less than 6 cubes man, your port is going to take up at least a cube. Then with your double baffle and all your displacements, I don't think you have the room. I squeezed an 18" into my hatchback but I had over 7 cubes to start with. It ended up being 5.8 net, that's with double baffle and an appropriate sized port.

So would you say then Bubba that I have enough space for a 15?

Yeah 15" sounds more up your alley.

I love aero ports for this kind of project. Take up little space. PSP 6" aero or a 8" aero for a 15" would work depending on the variables (sub, box size, power, etc)

And more power/smaller box works because the more power helps compensate for the lack of efficiency of the box.

What sub is this? 3krms? I can work up a box for you, as can many others. Just lmk in PM. This thread doesn't stay on top very long.

Yeah your kind of borderline between a 15 and an 18. You have plenty of room for a 15 (more than needed) and just barely enough for an 18. But you have to consider the fact that you have to leave room for your amp, batteries, & whatever else you plan on putting back there. (And for 3kw you better have a couple good batts)

if you want a 18, why not try another sub then. Nightshade like smaller boxes with that kind of power. i did a 18 ns in 4 cubes net after all disc and sounded great and got loud on 3k
Not a bad idea either. But im really liking this BTL. Like bubba said though im gonna need room for my amp and batts back there too. Dont worry bubba I have a XS D5100 up front and a D3100 in the rear. And yea once a box is built to fit into the trunk im gonna move that battery into the trunk and the amp bolted onto the back seats. The D3100 takes up the whole floorspace on one side of the back lol.

And psh C. Falcon your like my friend. Wanting to FALCON PUNCH!! your way through me, then me being luigi i swiftly come around and take you from behind (no ****). I ought to make a Luigi sig..
