a w7 is a great subwoofer and the pdx amps are amazing.

The only reason people dog on JL on here is the price to performance ratio. If you got a great deal on either of those items, you got it made. Ignore the dumbasses and enjoy your music.

Usually that's what I hear. It's solid good quality stuff. However there is better out there for less green. As far as green goes, I'm getting a great deal on one so green is out of question. I've heard my friends 12w6v2 getting only about 300watts. It was decent, of course nothing incredible but I liked it so I thought I'd like the dub7. Since I'm having a custom built trunk with this, I just want to have the best chance of liking what I have so nothign has to be redone. Thanks for the help again.

I'm not hatin on JL, especially if you got it for a good price. I've heard a few diff JL set ups and they were solid, but when I heard how much the guys paid for them I wasn't so impressed as it was like 3x what it seemed to be worth.

Alright well that's cool then. But yeah I'm not spending "Mommy and Daddy's" money so $$ is a big deal for me. How bout that pdx amp though? This guy said they are horrible and JL or Clarion would be much better? haah wtf alpine is nice stuff, especially thos pdx's....i thought?

I"m was actually in the same predicament as you with the PDX 1000. I have a eD 16ov.2 off of mine right now, but I am going with an IDMAX v.3 D2. I'd thought I'd level the class of my sub to my components (Seas Reference).

Oh, and there should be nothing wrong with the PDX's especially the mono amps. The only "real" complaints I'd heard about them is that their low end frequency response isn't that great. I believe Alpine lists them as have a response of 20Hz up to whatever. Thing is, you don't get too much information between 20-30Hz in most recordings anyway. So unless you are playing low frequency test tones all the time, you should be fine.

Thnks dude....uve really been a help...i jsut want this setup for all music including hard hitting rap but no, no low frequency tests or anything. this is a daily driver setup. thnks again.

Yeah, you should be happy with the PDX and the 12W7. No matter what you are looking for, SQ or SPL, you can make the W7 sound great in the correct enclosure and some tuning.
