what up people what think???

but you also said that sub rms matters in the question on which alt to get
Have u ever had a decent size amp in your truck like 7k plus? If u hook up a ****** 250watt Rockford p1 your not going to use hardly any of your amps power to push that sub, but if u hook up a team sundown woofer it's goin to gobble up that 7k plus power pullin more power from your amp. So yes rms of your subwoofer matters somewhat... If u can't understand I'm sry I cant explain it any better over the intenet.

So in conclusion if your tryin to power bigger woofers with a high rms rating your goin to need a bigger alt to get power to the amp to get power to the woofer. Takes power to make power

Example is take your american bass hd out ur car and put a 250rms woofer wire to .5 and tell me if u have the same voltage drop. I think not.

My american bass will be wired to .5 daily? so hooking up a 250 rms woofer to .5 ohms also would yield the same voltage drop unless i turned my amp down? The sub doesnt determine the power, the amp does at the imp you wire to.

Example my amp is 3000 rms and the Hd15 is wired to .5ohms and i drop to 12.5volts. If i change subs to a 250 watt sub and still wired at .5ohm and DONT RESET THE AMP, i will still have the same voltage drop because nothing changed other then me wiring a weaker sub on the amp but at same imp of .5ohms. The amp will still try to make 3k either way wired at .5 for what ever sub i have

But ok your right, im wrong

This doesnt make sense, so your saying if i buy "x" sub that is rated at 2k rms and "y" sub that is rated at 400rms, SAME amp SAME impedance load, same gain just direct sub swap. All of a sudden my amp become a million times more efficient and produced 2k with less current pull? If so **** ima go buy a 4k amp and power a sundown x and run stock electrical because according to your theory thats what will be my outcome correct?

Ya were on different pages. If u put a 250rms woofer in ur not going to use 3k of ur power so ur volt drop won't be the same. I'm not saying the amp won't make the same power being both wired at .5ohm.. I'm saying u won't use all ur power do to the lower rms rating meaning u won't need as much electrical to back up the amp be because u will be drawing a lot less power.

OK I see

You may not have the same voltage drop, if impedance rise was different. Less rise would draw more current and cause more voltage drop, even if the amp was set the same.

Just saying, food for thought

Not ones trolling u, get over yourself, NO ONE CARES. Go take your car to the shop to have them build it for you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
If the amp is set the same and you drop a 250 watt sub on it it will still act the same until the 250 watt sub going smoke.

ya you cannot compare because you will have to re tune the amp ( reset the gain for the lesser rms sub ) if not you will smoke that sub .

so the amp will be less of a burden on the system as its now making less power.
