What to use to seal screw holes?

I got a custom fit box and the new sub doesn't mount with the old holes. What should I use to fill the old mounting holes? The box is carpeted. I have read some used wood filler or silicone. What do you suggest? If you suggest the silicone what kind? What about just filling them with liquid nail?

don't use filler. either use some mdf dust and wood glue mix or fill hole with wood glue and stick a tooth pick or match stick in there and sand to level.

Thanks for the response. Is it inevitable that the carpet will get messy? I don't care since it will be covered just wondered?

pull the sub and seal from the inside = no mess

dab of liquid nails, caulk, saw dust/wood glue mix...whatever you have
