What to expect in comparing dual small ported vs single SPL enclosure?

I'm a huge EDM fan, and my dual JL 8w3v3's (vented box) have been working out okay, except I'm growing more and more disgruntled when my subs attempt to hit the low notes. I still plan to keep my JX250/1 for now, but very open to upgrading in a month or few, but for sure I want more surface area for the sub(s).

I'm considering a setup like dual Alpine Type-S D2 in a vented enclosure that offers about 1.5 cu.ft per chamber, but I'm also considering a large vented 2.25 box w/single 12" such as an RE SE-X D4. Both setups using my JL amp (250W RMS, for now until I upgrade).

From researching the forum, I've learned that 2 12's mean more surface and will be much louder than my current setup, but I've also read that a larger enclosure allows more air to move.

Does anyone have experience with similar setups of each, or can share some knowledge with me?

if your having trouble hitting low notes then the problem resides mainly in your box design and tuning.

I've read into that, but have also been given feedback from multiple people that my two 8's are a bigger problem than the box.. can a box make a world of difference in my particular case? I do wish to go louder in addition to deeper...

i would not buy any box thats found on amazon, ebay or w/e site you find it in nowadays. Either buy a 5$ design with cutout sheets and build it yourself or pay someone else to do it. None of the prefabs would hit the lows since they are all tuned to the high 40s, 50s and 60s and they blatently lie and say its 30-33 hz tuning in their advertisement.

but yes if you want louder, your going to want bigger woofers with more power. Whats your budget? How many electrical upgrades have you done?
