What to buy and how cheap?

So i need a sub to go with my free surround sound that was missing the sub. i'm looking for something just to blend in with the 5.1, nothing over powering. it doesnt have to be uber SQ, just needs to sound decent and blend well.

how cheap can i get this done?

as far as size. something small probably. i mean my old computer speaker sub was only a 4inch in a well built box and it sounded great. so something like an 8in off a little bit of power in a home built box would do the trick.

maybe a 10. what kind of rms wattage on the amp? any HT recommendations?
