What the hell? Shipping an Eclipse head Unit instantly voids warranty?

Well, just spoke to Eclipse
I've never understood this. Why wouldn't this have been the first thing you did? When in doubt about a warranty question, don't you think the logical and reasonable thing to have done would have been to ask the people who manufacture the product and offer the warranty, rather than survey a group of internet junkies who obtain most of their information through 4th hand conversations and heresay?

Becuase they were closed when i first heard this, and didn't wanna have to wait another 2 days to find out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Good to hear. I am sure it being old stock helps you. Eclipse does not(and never has, afaik) allowed their dealers to ship new items('05 decks, etc). I would STILL have an authorized dealer install it to bump the warranty to 3 years.
Yeah, i might do that anyways. The local Eclipse authorized shop is a ripoff though, its like 50 bucks and they make you buy a wiring adapter.

You mean a wiring harness? You would want one of those anyway. See if they will do it a little cheaper. Bumping your warranty to 3 years AND getting a 1 year theft warranty for even $50 isn't a bad deal.

Well, its basically paying 50 dollars for a warranty, just something i gotta decide on my own. Its generally the same thing as buying an extended warranty from a store like Best Buy or Circuit City.
