What speakers?

I was thinking type r's but now idk.

I have 160 for comps and 120 for coaxials (yes dont even say "dont use rears... but the car is split between me and my pops and he wants rear fill soo...)

I was thinking to run em off a 125x4 mb quart onyx, but the type r coaxes arent meant to handle that much power so I really dont know. PLEASE HELP

P.S. don't come in here and try to sell me your speakers

Boston SR series or SC series

Pioneer D-series

I know those boston SRs will take that power I run almost that to my SR coaxials on my golf cart.

I've also heard of people running more power than that to the Pioneer D-series, though I've never given mine over 100rms (for about a day and they seemed fine)

does that sound like a good idea? I mean there must be a reason why so many ppl buy alpines. I also heard that they will whoop a lot of speakers that cost the same as them. lmk

i've only heard a set of type r highs once or twice and never really listened for flaws but overall, they sounded pretty nice. I will say I like the tweeter on them better than on the Pioneer D series, but i liked the mid better on the Pioneer TSD1720C set but that could have been different installs as well. With speakers, is really alot of personal preference and install dependent factors. when you search around about speakers (especially alpine) you have to factor out the fact that there are a bit of nuthuggers out there, what sounds good to others may not sound good to you, some people who comment on the speakers have never heard them but simply heard someone else say they were good and ran with it.

That said, if you can, try to listen to some speakers before you make a decision and remember, your install will make or break your sound. see my sig

to be honest I was looking at HAT imagines but I just cant afford em. I would buy 2 sets cause theyre convertible and i bet they could take 125 watts a peice. Would be a perfect setup I just dont have the money for em.

oh and prince that is why im spending about a 1200 on speakers, amp, and headunit, and a 800 to make it sound the best the speakers can do. (sound deadener, enclosure, all that fun stuff)

good plan. i mean I dont think you can go wrong wit the type R's friend of mine has em ,he's not as picky as me, and he loves his to death.

Personally, Id go with the Boston Acoustics SR's over them though. The ones on my golf cart SCREAM and wont distort for anything (unless i just try to distort em)
