what speakers would go good for the rear of a 99 mustang

I was wonder what would be ideal for the rear speakers of a mustang. Up front I would have two 6.5 rsd components in 6x8 adapter plates. Should I do components in the rear too? I don't know I've never worked with cross overs before. Should I leave it 6x8 in the rear or do adapter plates there also?

if you want rear speakers. get rear speakers. to some having them sounds awkward, and to others they feel weird without them. ford used 5x7(6x8) in those mustangs i believe. so just look for good quality speakers in the size range if you wish.

i prefer to turn my rear speakers off in my vehicle.

leave the rear stock for fill..only when you have passengers!!! other than that fade to the front and you will be very happy

I was skeptical also, but I just went for it -- I just had some Hertz MLK 165 components installed up front, no rear speakers. Have a "little" 10-inch hertz sub in the trunk -- I don't miss the rear speakers at all. I hear the sound around me, not just from the front like I thought I would -- it fills the cabin of the car. A step further, the tweets are location down near the 6.5" mid, and I really like this set up. Oh yeah, and I drive a car about the same size as a 'stang.

once you hear even a decent sound stage in a vehicle it blows your mind. granted mine needs work, but i still prefer the sound of music coming from the front.

im willing to bet most people who feel they need to have speakers all the way around either

1) have not heard a proper, or even decent imaging setup

2) just want loud *** music, so they add more power and more speakers and the rear doors are the only other place to put them (if you cant fiberglass)

agreed, whenever i fade too much to the rear it messes up my whole soundstage... and kills the sound of the sub, it just doesn't blend well imo... before i came on here i swore by front and rear, now that i have a decent setup, i wont go back to beefing up the rears, just the fronts...

So, you have two sets of the RSd's components in a coupe and you're asking about rear fill? Run enough power to each of those sets (although one set would be plenty) and you will most definitely will not need, nor probably hear rear fill.

I cannot stand people who ditch rear fill.

Its not as important as the front, but still its fuvking important!
