Think of it this way. You have enough money into deadener to buy my whole car; I have $12 to last me til my next paycheck, where that's all going to pay off college. Your team talks about making CNC machined enclosures; I have a 40 year old table saw that may or may not be square, depending on the day. You probably don't have to borrow your brothers truck to make the hour long trip to the nearest place to buy MDF because you can't fit even a cut sheet in your vehicle. Your setup probably doesn't consist of almost entirely used equipment. You probably don't have a mere 5 hours a week to devote to building boxes and tuning your setup. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif
What I'm getting at is that how you define "real life" relates to how right I am. Yeah, you can get 150 out of a Type R. You can get them to sound good. You also have far more time, money, experience, and resources (*cough* CNC machine *cough*) at your disposal. Anyone who's real life sounds more like mine isn't going to have near the same results.
WHy do you think we are all rich and have dumped incredible amounts of $ into our cars? Do you think thats all it takes is $? Please...
I have a whopping ~2750 in my blazer... this includes buying the vehicle to begin with, the materials, and every piece of equipment, every inch of wire... head unit... *everything*
Tobias (sblazer) doesnt have an ounce of deadenor in his car... and he has built his setup over a period of 2 years! If thats not working hard for what you have, I don't know what is.
Tommy has next to nothing in his setup... why? Because type R's are cheap, and discounts/deals on amps are out there if you know where to go.
Don't think you know everything about competing when you aren't a competitor.
As far as the CNC router... that was "speakerman"... who has no dealings with phat hertz. I am looking into getting one next year - but until then its the good ole table saw and router.
SBLAZER is of the mind the Alpine Type R is the best sub available, bar none, for just about every application. Yours isn't the first post he's claimed its just about the best sounding and loudest daily sub available, and Im sure it wont be the last. We all have our favorites I guess, just some of us are more outspoken and pushy with ours than other people are. *shrug*
Raven, its people like you with an attitude like yours that help keep this hobby great. You are working your *** off and scraping by finanacially, yet still find the time money and effort to build your own system. I have alot more respect for setups/people like that, like you, than someone who pays a shop $10k to install a setup in their new bling'd out hummer H2 or some rich kid who can afford to sit around building boxes all day long because they dont have to work.
The R is a great daily sub... period. Its cheap, loud, and sounds good. Its on par SPL wise @ a low note with any woofer until you get to *serious* amounts of power. What more do you want?
Doesn't matter if someone dumped 20 grand, or 2 grand.... you have what you have. If they worked hard to get the money to pay for what they have, more power to em. Hell, if they won the lottery and bought a hummer on 24's, who cares. So long as they aren't @ssholes about it, it doesnt matter.
Ive been curious where all these trophies are spkrman that was predicting. How did Mark do, anyone know? Seems there was a huge build-up for the Type-R's at finals, yet I dont believe Ive heard any bragging about them since. Did they fall flat or what?
I dont know of anyone that uses them in dbdrag, they arent fart woofers, they like the low notes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.
Mark (me) is still predicting to do well at MECA finals, which is next weekend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
