What puts out more SPL than a 12 se xxx????

Where were all the Type-R's at dB Drag Finals? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
Ive been curious where all these trophies are spkrman that was predicting. How did Mark do, anyone know? Seems there was a huge build-up for the Type-R's at finals, yet I dont believe Ive heard any bragging about them since. Did they fall flat or what?

Think of it this way. You have enough money into deadener to buy my whole car; I have $12 to last me til my next paycheck, where that's all going to pay off college. Your team talks about making CNC machined enclosures; I have a 40 year old table saw that may or may not be square, depending on the day. You probably don't have to borrow your brothers truck to make the hour long trip to the nearest place to buy MDF because you can't fit even a cut sheet in your vehicle. Your setup probably doesn't consist of almost entirely used equipment. You probably don't have a mere 5 hours a week to devote to building boxes and tuning your setup. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif
What I'm getting at is that how you define "real life" relates to how right I am. Yeah, you can get 150 out of a Type R. You can get them to sound good. You also have far more time, money, experience, and resources (*cough* CNC machine *cough*) at your disposal. Anyone who's real life sounds more like mine isn't going to have near the same results.
WHy do you think we are all rich and have dumped incredible amounts of $ into our cars? Do you think thats all it takes is $? Please...

I have a whopping ~2750 in my blazer... this includes buying the vehicle to begin with, the materials, and every piece of equipment, every inch of wire... head unit... *everything*

Tobias (sblazer) doesnt have an ounce of deadenor in his car... and he has built his setup over a period of 2 years! If thats not working hard for what you have, I don't know what is.

Tommy has next to nothing in his setup... why? Because type R's are cheap, and discounts/deals on amps are out there if you know where to go.

Don't think you know everything about competing when you aren't a competitor.

As far as the CNC router... that was "speakerman"... who has no dealings with phat hertz. I am looking into getting one next year - but until then its the good ole table saw and router.

SBLAZER is of the mind the Alpine Type R is the best sub available, bar none, for just about every application. Yours isn't the first post he's claimed its just about the best sounding and loudest daily sub available, and Im sure it wont be the last. We all have our favorites I guess, just some of us are more outspoken and pushy with ours than other people are. *shrug*
Raven, its people like you with an attitude like yours that help keep this hobby great. You are working your *** off and scraping by finanacially, yet still find the time money and effort to build your own system. I have alot more respect for setups/people like that, like you, than someone who pays a shop $10k to install a setup in their new bling'd out hummer H2 or some rich kid who can afford to sit around building boxes all day long because they dont have to work.
The R is a great daily sub... period. Its cheap, loud, and sounds good. Its on par SPL wise @ a low note with any woofer until you get to *serious* amounts of power. What more do you want?

Doesn't matter if someone dumped 20 grand, or 2 grand.... you have what you have. If they worked hard to get the money to pay for what they have, more power to em. Hell, if they won the lottery and bought a hummer on 24's, who cares. So long as they aren't @ssholes about it, it doesnt matter.

I dont know of anyone that uses them in dbdrag, they arent fart woofers, they like the low notes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Mark (me) is still predicting to do well at MECA finals, which is next weekend //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Hey got a 12 re se xxx, and wanting something with more SPL than that. Running off a hifonics bx1500D, in a slot ported box about 2.5 Cu FT, tuned to 32 hz, in a hatchback. Assuming all other unmentioned variables stay the same, what sub can I directly swap out with that se xxx, and make it louder. I don't really wanna upgrade my amp although that is an option, as I have heard these can take more wattage. But I'm gonna be running it daily not just as at a competition for a few minutes. I've seen some pretty impressive subs out there, orions, soundsplinter subs look pretty tempting:yumyum: , eclipse titanium looked pretty good, but wattage wise it is only 750 rms. What do you guys reccomend just to get my SPL louder. Thanks a lot-Sampson
'

it wont be a drastic difference going from woofer to woofer.. just fiddle with what you have now.

Both are setups outside the scope of a daily driver, although my setup is just insane on the LOW note of late night tip //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

To not get into a debate with you over the qualities of the Type R. My point of those comments was not to bash the R or even make any comments on its performance, merely to explain my interpretation of sblazer's comments, as the original poster was curious. You have witnessed me state I believe the Type R to be a good choice, especially for its price range. I even suggest them and many times refer to your comments/testing when doing so. So.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif lol

Im not sure how you got something negative out of my post there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif My intention was to praise Raven (and people like him) for his dedication to the hobby. Someone who 'works hard for their money' and then pays a shop $20k for a stereo is not a 'car stereo guy' in my book, he's a guy that owns a nice stereo. Im not bashing him for having money or even for having a system, but those are not the types of people that are the heart and soul of this hobby imo. If you took offense to those comments, Id ask... why?

You are inferring that raven is "better" than someone who pays someone to do everything for them. I am saying it goes person by person... you can't make blanket statements.

If anything, people who go around saying "I worked hard for my stuff, while others buy things at will" is just as bad as someone who gloats about having everything.

I didn't personally take offense... I have what I have, and thats all that matters. Whether someone gave me my blazer, built my box, and just told me how to push the button to make it go... or if I went around picking up pop cans to take to the recycling center to make the $ for my system... just doesnt matter.

Obviously I had the two events confused, sorry. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Let us know how it goes, Ive been wondering.
Will do! It will definitely be posted on the site... hopefully I can win all 4 classes I'll be entering! Currently the record holder in 3 (mic quattro is the 4th, which is finals only), but that means nothing until finals is over //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Im confused, now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif When did I say Raven was "better" than anyone else? You used quotation marks around the word better as if I used that word specifically, I did not. Again, I was simply praising Raven and his dedication to this hobby, I do not know why you keep taking some negative from this. The only blanket statement I believe I made was "Raven, its people like you with an attitude like yours that help keep this hobby great". Is there really a something in that comment you wish to debate over? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

We always do this. lol Its all good though.

edit: Good luck at MECA.

you are inferring that he is in some way better than someone who goes to a shop and buys everything. I'm not saying anything about the guy, I don't know him.

People who go into best buy, circuit city... tweeter... your local shop... they keep it going. Maybe you have an appreciation for someone who scrounges together used stuff, but I don't see how that really helps the industry.

edit: I'll need it!

No, I was inferring its people like hiim that are the 'heart and soul' of this hobby. You keep trying to put those words in my mouth, they don't fit. There was no negative inferral to my comment to anyone specifically, please stop trying to pull one from it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I have more respect for someone (in terms of the hobby) who works their butt off to make ends meet and still have a DIY system much more than someone who simply pays a shop to do it, whether or not they worked hard for that money. Im sure you are well aware of the term 'built not bought'. And when personal sacrifice takes place in order to feed the car audio hobby, that shows that much more dedication. A $00 head unit may be one guy's entire spending money for a month, while another guy's $1k head might be his weekly allowance. Im sorry if you don't see that distinction, or want to read into that me bashing the rich guy, when in fact Im praising the poor guy, but that's your interpretation of my words, not my own words.

Cheers.

barely moving any hair and not flexing the truck at all //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif low frequencys equal the flex //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif by the way ever go to a show and get it metered at that event?
you know whats funny is alot of people bash on us spl vehicles and then you guys go make a video of a hair trick playing a note lol.
You're an idiot. Try reading a little more. Its in this thread. He has 3 MECA class records.

calm down. i simply asked what his score was. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif no need to get all offensive. well i still want to know his dash or kick score or whatever score it is and with what mic. i think the hair trick is tight. by the way if the alpine is so good why so cheap? and no one ever answered team psi question on how they did at finals. i know meca hasnt passed but iasca and usac and dbdrag passed and my freind said he didnt see any cars with alpine type rs im just laying donw the facts. not bashing. im sure it holds its ground for a budget sub.

This looks like bashing to me...anyone else agree?

It doesnt flex because 1 - its an older chevy, strong car 2 - you couldnt see it anyway with that cam and 3 - its a wall... there amount of roof that can flex is all of 2 feet... have someone sit on your roof, see how much it flexes... thats how a wall is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
