What ohms will my box end up being?

Received 2 kicker subs that i bought off Ebay. I paid for two 8 ohm speakers but received one 8 ohm and one 4 ohm sub. Both are SVC.

I got obviously smoked on this deal as the 4 ohm is used and mysteriously I can't get an answer to emails now. Remember, if the deals sounds too good to be true, it probally is!

Anyway... I'm stuck with these for now. What would be the ohms of my 2, 15 box wired in parallel?

An 8 Ohm speaker with a 4 Ohm speaker wired together in parallel would make a nominal final load of 6 Ohms, I think?

The problem here is with two drivers having mismatched VC configurations if feeding them off of the same amp they'll be receiving different wattage levels //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

boxes are made of wood
wood isnt conductive

so ALOT OF OHMS //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

haha yer fun knee

you wont be running 6 ohms, because you wont be using the two woofers in the one enclosure...

if you MUST use them, you'll atleast need to have two seperate subwoofer enclosures, and two seperate amps to run them.

I like to think of things as really poor conductors rather than good insulators //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Given enough voltage, anything becomes a conductor...have found that out the hard way a couple times...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am running a mono amp.
So would they be running in 6 ohms then?
I'm pretty sure I'm correct on that.

But like I said and others said as well - you'll be giving two different wattage levels to the subs (the 8 Ohm driver will be getting half the power of the 4 Ohm driver...ergo if your amp makes like 300w @ 6 Ohms then the 8 Ohm sub will be getting 100 of that 300 watts while the 4 Ohm sub will be getting the other 200)

Thanks for the replies.

I see what you are saying but how would this be a terrible thing? At least temporarely.

Guess what? The used 4 ohm sub is blown. Oh and I got a reply from the seller...

HI , WHAT THE HELL MAKES YOU THINK WE WOULD DO IT ON PURPOSE . DO YOU THINK WE BECAME A TITANIUM POWER SELLER BY SCREWING YOU OUT OF A 15 INCH SUB ??????

WE WILL CONTACT YOU IN THE AM FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM . THANKS
Now thats customer service! Kinda makes you feel all warm and fuzzy doesn't it?

I am pretty much done with Ebay...
