What kind of speaker wires to run??

I'm getting a h.o. 12w7 power by jl 10001 installed next week what gauge wires should i be running from the amp to sub? i have 18gauge right now in my car and one of my friends say its too small....so any suggestions? thanks!

for that kind of power it's way too small. I'd use atleast 12 gauge.

im using stinger 12 gauge.

i had scosche 16 gauge before, but i couldnt really tell that much of a difference. i think its more audible at higher volumes though

Any specific brands on the 8-12 gauge speaker wire anyone suggest?

Well, the thing is speakers don't require that many amps (amperage) to go. The higher the power, the more voltage, not amperage. So, you can use nearly any wire. I use the same wire I run to my speakers for my subs. 12AWG is a little over kill, and 8 AWG is EXTREMELY over kill. 14-16 AWG will be fine.

The brand of wire isn't hard to come by. You can use a lot of different kinds, for convinience, radio shack's wire isn't terrible.

If you want a larger stock of it then ebay has some really good deals for it.
