what kind of resin?

When making midbass and subwoofer enclosures from fiberglass. I was curious as to what kind of resin to use. I used the bondo brand recently. It did its job but stunk for 2 weeks. I was told by a friend not to use the bondo brand and to go with US composites. Though I wasnt told why

So im looking at their site and im unsure of which of these to use.

Polyester Resins

The 404 tooling or the EB general purpose or something else?

I use Solarez dual cure UV resin. The stuff is awesome. No mixing just keep it out of direct sunlight while laying it down. Once it's down move it into the light or use a UV light and it cures pretty quickly. I'm no glassine expert and it was pretty easy for me.

Was there a smell? Is it pretty much unlimites curing time until you have sunlight?

Yes there is a strong smell!!!! I've got a 3M gas mask for glassing.

I'd agree that it cures much faster out in sunlight.

I got 10 gallons of the cheapest resin they had and still have 5 gallons left over right now. Going to use it on my next wall, works great

i use the stuff from home depot.it only when doing it.

it smells when doing the layup.

i have no after smell.

i use it all the time.

but would like to try some of that smd stuff.
Scott if I'm planning on doing 8s in my kicks you think it'll be a good idea to go ahead and buy a q-logic 6.5" panel than cut it and fiberglass it to fit an 8" or just fiberglass me a mold of my kicks and build it from there?

i would not buy them just to cut them up.

tape the floor, and stock panels really good.

the start making a mould of it.

then make some 8" wood rings for the speakers.

theres many youtub vids showing how to do it.

not hard.

the hard part is sanding them smooth.

That's what I used to get it out of my hair after it was cured.........
