What kind of "break in" volume gain should I expect : read....

I know it is sub dependent. No exaggeration my audiobahn aw1200's when I use to use them gained over 10 times the volume from the first 5 mins till full break in. I would assume the softer the speaker the less volume gain from break in. The speaker in question is the TSW307 pioneer cheapie. SOFT suspension. Considerably more than a type R. So I would guess(not knowing a lot of the tech. behind break in)not much. I have about 15 mins of play on it so far. The volume seem to gain 50 to 70 percent the 15mins I played so far from when I first put it in the box. Just curious what I will gain. I just was seeing what this was like as a alternative to the type R's due to finances for now. With 60 percent of the power it seems to be 60 to 70 percent as loud as the type R was in the box (guessing). One song seems 80 percent plus. Now this thing only has 15 mins of play tops. Maybe less. Since soft suspension not expecting much. Think I could gain another 50 percent increase? ( I think I am being optimistic) But there again I am use to the audiobahns with 10 times the volume gain. The only thing is the pioneer doesn't seem to have the low end extension (now not saying bad, just not what the type R was doing)This is a 4th order BP for those that don't know.

you dont need a break-in, the subs were made to move. It dont matter if you give it 1 minute on full crank or 5 minutes and 1/5 volume, its going to move just the same either way. its not like anything is going to crack or something.

although its true that many subs show improvement after being punished a bit, theres no break in period you need to worry about. just get those things movin!

but with that said, i wouldnt go full power, in case you may have set your amp gains a bit high or sending a clipped signal or something, that may damage the equipment

Your sub did not gain over 10X the volume from the suspension loosening up. It may have gotten drastically louder, but no where near 10x. Yes, Im just being anal when I point this out.

How much volume gain you will experience is anyone's guess. And us guessing wont change anything. If you want to know, go break your sub(s) in and then come tell us.

If you set your gains by ear, and you do experience a drastic change during your break-in period, its a good idea to go back and re-adjust your gains afterwards.
