What kind of box for a DD2515?

I bought a 2515 a week ago and i also got a box. The previous owner told me that it wasnt the actual box he used to have for the DD. He said i should get a bigger box made for better performance . I have a trunk car (pretty big) so i dont know what to ask for as far as tuning and size. Mostly i listen to hiphop and rap like tupac, bone thugz, biggie, lil jon, ice cube and so on. Considering this, what type of box should i get and how should it be tuned? He told me about his old box and said the sub had reached 144 dbs at 28 hz which is chinese to me. He also said it was built for low bass (28 hz to 45z) im still new to this, so i was wondering which direction i should head. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

personally, id run that particular sub in an enclosure around 4 cubes @ 30 hz

Agreed, 4ft^3 with a low 30's tuning will give you some solid output and low-end response.

Whats low end response?

Yea he said that the box he sold me was about 38hz or so, but that he used to have one tuned to 28hz or something like that. I was thinking of building my own box, but this whole tuning thing has me confused

Just low-end output in general, stuff below 45hz or so will come out great with a low 30's tuning. And with a sub like the DD, it'll still be able to hit up higher just fine.

You have to find the needed length of the port based on three things:

1) Desired box volume after all displacements

2) Size of port opening

3) Desired tuning frequency

You basically just kinda have to plug and chug to get everything to work in harmony...or use some sort of box building program that does some of the work for you.
