What is wrong with my 15" Tempest!?

OK, I got two 15" Tempest woofers in the mail last week and now I believe that one is bad. Both woofers are in the same type of box, and hooked to an MA Audio M1889i amp. I was breaking them in so I never turned the volume up past 15, not even to a medium level. I listened to them for about 30 minutes on the drive to school and then at the end of the day, I came back and started listening to them and I noticed that one was making a rattling noise at low levels. I was told it may be a loose connection so I took it out and tightened the spaid connectors and then tried again. It still made the rattling noise at low levels but I noticed if I turned it up, it became a lot less noticeable. I am pretty sure that I ddint blow it because both subs were running at the same times and if one would have blown, I would assume that something would have happened to the other. Maybe I am wrong about that though. I dont know how else to explain the niose other than a rattle so I really hope that someone can help me out. Thanks guys

also make sure you have no air leaks around the subs cause that will cause a buzz one way to check this is play a song where it rattles then press the gasket down and see if it goes away

well, I dont think they are crappy because the one that works has excellent SQ. When I just rest my hand on the cone while a song is playing, the rattling also goes away a little bit. I have not heard back from adire but I will let you know what I hear.

Never rest your hand on the cone while the sub is playing, that will only cause trouble. The suggestion earlier, in case that's why you did this, was to push on the gasket (where you screw the thing in) and see if the rattling stopped.

I have put the sub in different enclosures, changed wires and tried to figure this out by myself but nothing has helped...

Pop the sub out- check to see that the spider is fully attached.

Also, lightly, and evenly, push down the cone- is there any rubbing?
