What is the difference between amps???

I just bought a 12w7 and now need to pick out an amp what is the difference between the JL AUDIO e1800D and the 1000/1 mono amps i know the 1000/1 amp is better but why what does it do thats soo much better?

sound-wise, not a whole lot of difference.

Major benefit IMO would be versatility due to the RIPS system in the 1000/1.

Another advantage would be the 1000/1 having better processing abilities.

And I would assume given the huge price difference the 1000/1 is held to a higher standard throughout the mfg process -- what difference that makes probably varies from amp to amp, but it's not something you're going to hear.
