what is the best adhesive/filler for plastice???

im looking to modify my cd player installation kit a little. it is a single din installation kit but has a pocket underneath where the cd player goes. i want to cut the plastic up and fill in that pocket so its not there. it doesnt look good in my dash with that pocket there and another directly under it.

i have heard that bondo does not work good at all on plastic and i wanna make sure that i dont get anything that cracks or breaks up.

what is a good adhesive/filler that i can use to fill it in and also sand and paint?

Rage body fillif will do the trick. I would take some abs and glue it to the back side to the dask pice and then sand down the abs with a fine grit sand paper. Use the Rage body filler and it will adhear to the abs real nicely. Then all you do is sand down the rage and paint the dash

You would need to go to a autobody suply are paint shop. You can get it off sumit racing or off line.

What is going to be your best bet is to glue in a piece of wood abs etc, then body filler and sand smooth.

As far as materials if you wanna use the good stuff a duramix 4040 will glue in the piece and rage gold body filler.

You can use bondo but its not as easy to work with and more sanding. Also loctite makes a plastic adhesive available at lowes that works just like a duramix.

When i use bondo i find not only do i sand more but theres more imperfections pinholes and such, so i get it pretty good and then use a spot putty for the final touch ups. Much easier, however if you dont have supplies already do it the right way and get good materials.

Make a cut-out of ABS to cover the pocket hole, then use filler to smooth it over.

well the pocket is actually removable from the backside and just slides right out. so i was going to take the pocket part out, and cut that up and use that to fill in the hole, then the filler to go over it all and sand it all down to paint it. but the foam idea is a good idea too
