What is more convenient?

Hi Guys,

Ok, so as you know, my system is completely described in my signature.

To have more power on the mids, I want to remove from the hu and connect my 2 Rear stage O2 Audio 5 1/4in 4 ohms speakers to my jl amp, that already has the 2 Image Dynamics 6.5 2 ohms speakers connected, but people say to not connect it on the same amp because I already have my Image Dynamics 6.5 that are 2 ohms and it is not good to connect different ohm load speakers. I really don't want to connect my 2 front speakers together to raise the ohm load, because I don't want to loose the stereo effect.

So, my question is, thinking in the less power straining option to the alternator and electrical.

What will be my best option to connect my rear 4 ohms speakers without having issues and getting the maximum output on them? Getting another amp for the 4 ohms speakers only? or What you suggest?

Thank you.

nothing wrong with what youre doing.

only problem that usually comes is if you run 2ohm on all 4channels of a low quality amp otherwise there isnt a problem at all with what you did. its the same thing as bridging 1 set at 4ohm.

Your saying that I can connect a set of 2 ohms speakers on 2 channels and a set of 4 ohm speakers on the other 2 channels on the same jl amp and I won't have issues?

Yes in a nut shell.

it the same effect on an amp as running 2 channels at 4ohm and bridging the other 2 at 4ohm

It wont hurt anything. Just be sure to set your gains accordingly.... The front set will be much louder than the rear until you get it dialed in
Ok. My other confusion is, how to set the gains for my 4ohms on the jl amp since it sends the same rms output no matter what the ohm load is, and since 2 channels will be driving 2 2ohms speakers and the other 2 will be driving the 4ohms speakers, how should I calculate to set the gains with the dmm?

I wouldn't try to calculate it, other than your max gain setting before clipping. You might need to run less gain to the 2, 2ohm speakers than you will for the rear fill.

For example, if your max voltage was 20V for 200watts (example), then you would adjust lower, around 12-18V or whatever blends best with your rear speakers. You can also use your fader to fade more signal to the rear and less to the front speakers.

I have 2 sets of speakers in the front doors of my bus, feeding them about 125WRMS. I have 1 set of 6x9's for rear fill, and I'm only feeding them about 75WRMS. I just have the gain cranked way down on the 2 rear channels to match the sound coming from the front. Otherwise the sound stage gets pulled back to the rear.

Ok, sounds good, but I want to be completely sure, Is that if I connect 2 2ohm speakers on 2 channels and 2 4 ohms speakers on the other 2 channels of the same amp, will I have any problems? I don't want to damage anything...
