I have a 15" Memphis M3 in my girl's truck. It is in a 4.25cf vented box. I just scored a deal on a pair of 12" Memphis M3s, and am considering going with the pair of them in a sealed box. So, the 15" is run a dual 2ohm and is run at 1ohm on a Memphis PR500 amp. If I went with the pair of dual 4ohm M3 12s, I would run them off of a Sundown SAE1200d, so they would get more than enough power. Long story short, would the pair of 12s in a sealed box be louder than the 15 in the vented box. Don't get me wrong, the 15 really slams for only 500w rms, but like me, she doesn't think anything is too loud. I would lose the volume from the vent, but would be doubling the rms power, and would have to be getting 60% or 70% more cone surface area with the 12s. I have asked a couple of people and get conflicting opinions. Big benefit of the 12s would also be that the recommended sealed volume for the pair is a net of 2.50cf, which would mean a way smaller box. This is going in the rear of an Oldsmobile Bravada (same as an S-10 Blazer), and the rear is already fairly small. The box that I have in the back with the 15 has a gross volume of around 5.50cf, and is quite large. Not to mention that I already have a pair of amps back there. Opinions appreciated. Thanks
