What is dynamic power?

On many amps i see dynamic power ratings. Can anyone tell me any info? In many cases, it is much higher than the RMS. Thanks!!

Means the Max power. Never go by that raiting, you will never see that much unless something is going very wrong.

depends on the company. i think directed gives dynamic power ratings that are not max. like the viper d2500.1 is rated 2500 rms but has a dynamic power rating at 2700.

not necessarily... is all music a simple 0db sine waves?

A peak rating tells you how much power it can handle dynamically, in those short bursts...afterall music consists of different consistency of bursts/pulses of sound dictated by the signal (not the amplifier)

So do not think that because you have a few hundered watts continuously capable amplifier on a speaker that it will ever see that power realistically, not even close- whether it be all full volume or not....the source will dictate what that speaker sees, and its never constant in music...its up and down.

dont worry about it. Its nothing to be concerned about. Just peak watts.

Yes....unfortunately "Dynamic Power" is one of those terms that doesn't have an industry standard definition. Differet companies use it to describe different things.
