what is dual 1 ohm

there is no better or worse performance wise..it just depends on what kind of amp you have.some amps put out 1000 watts at 1ohm some at 2ohm so it just gives you more wiring options..

so with the v12 alpine 1000.1 what will be good?

and also which one will be louder on15'' btl or one 18'' btl with the same amp?

i will go with a bigger amp later on in about 6 months but for know i will be using this alpine

the amp is fine you just have to get a sub that is compatible ohm wise..i cant remember exzactly at what ohms that amp is stable too..really there wont be a too much of a difference but if you plan on upgrading in the near future and have the space why not go with the 18''

thank you

what is the difference between dual 1 ohm and dual 2ohm
death for most amps when you try to run the dual 1 ohm parallel!

Its all in the wiring options man.. Wire a dual in series and ohm load doubles, wire it in parallel and the ohm load cuts in half (most amps cant go .5ohm without letting the magick smoke genies escape).

Once the smoke genies are gone, your amp doesnt work anymore //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

youngcoke, a dual 1 sub wires either 2 or .5ohm...and a dual 2 sub will wire either 4 or 1 ohm...an easy way to remember is....

eg dual 2 sub....

2 x 2= 4

2/2= 1

therefor the sub will play either 4 or 1ohm

this formula also applies with dual 4 and dual 1 subs.....

dual 1....1 x 2 = 2.....1/2 = .5

dual 4......4 x 2 = 8.....4/2= 2

you multiply and divide by 2 because the 2 substitues "dual"

it's all about your options WRT your amp's compatibility with your sub as someone mentioned ealier

If you're gonna get a BTL, be it 15 or 18, that won't do anything for it. at best you're gonna have to buy two of those and strap them. I have only 1600 watts going to a fully loaded BTL and it's screaming for more power. if you do get two amps, 18 all the way!!! fully loaded daily

Far from accurate.
Ohm's law is not multiplying and dividing.

For wiring in series: Rt = R1 + R2 + R3 .... etc.

For wiring in parallel 1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 ...etc.

i never said that it was ohm's law man.....i said that is an easy way to remember what ohmages the various sub configurations play at...read my post again:)
