Could also be the carpet on the box, or the smell of the wood you might not be used to. The first system I got when I had no idea what I was doing, was in a prefab sealed box made of pine. Would heat up in the car and smell a bit, had me worried at first but i got used to it. Now I use mdf which doesn't smell at all. I design and build my boxes now so no carpet either.
