what is a flatwind coil?

is this somthing important? i lookin at fi subs and on the site its like buying a fricken car so many options! i wanna use my sub everyday to and from work but do comps for fun when there local, so can some one really smart go to ficaraudio.com or whatever that site is look at the 18" bl series and tell me what each option means, what it will or wont do for me and how important it is and if 2 of these will be ok on only 500w ea. til i get the money to get extra batts to run 1000-1500 each? thanks for the help(never knew there were so many things to consider about a speaker!

if you have 500 for each sub, go with SSDs not BLs

500 will not be good with BLS, not even with the ssds still underpowered

ok so since i dont need more handling no flatwind for me, however if i run 1000 on each what amp would yal recomend for around the 300$ range, if i do this il get dual 1 ohms to drop both to a total 1 ohm so i can do 1 amp, and just out of wonder is it even worth the money to only get 1 18 and 1 1000 amp or would it be smarter spl and listening wise to just drop to 2 black audiopipe 15's and 1500 watts?

To answer the question, flat wound coils use a wire that has been flattened a bit by a machine (wire strand is no longer round). This gives more surface area for cooling purposes, hence more power handling.
