What happens when?

What happens when an amp is damaged during the shipping process? Being the receiver of the amp am I suppose to file a claim or does the seller do this?
IIRC only the shipper can file a claim, and the correct procedure would be you complain to the shipper, he complains to the shipping company. But this depends on the shipping company probably, and my memory. Call the shipper AND the shipping company, not necessarily in that order, and you'll have your definitive answer. Good luck.

Ok thanks. I already notified the shipper. He is suppose to be working things out. Just needed to know if there was anything else that I needed to do. He said the amp was insured up to $400. Will I have to send the amp back to the seller? How exactly does this process work out with me getting this amp repaired, replaced, or me getting my money back?

what is wrong with the amp?

question the legitimacy of the seller first, if you received an amp and it just doesn't happen to work, and there are no signs of misuse by the shipment company, then theres a very small chance the shipment company caused the amp to cease.

amps can't fail as easily as say a woofers soft parts can mess up in shipping, it would take a great deal of force by a shipment company to lets say, break a solder joint inside a decently packaged amp, or crack a circuit board trace, as long as the amp was packaged up good.

Cover your bases and call the shipping company too. Ask them. Dont just send the amp back with nothing to show for it.

The amp was double boxed and showed no signs of abuse. The amp had very low output when I hooked it up. I though it was the rca's but it wasn't. When I move the remote gain on the amp it plays and when I leave it alone it doesnt play. Sometimes it will play without me doing this but the output will fade away after awhile. I questioned the shipped but he insist the amp play fine when he had it. He made a video of it, but I told him I could also make a video of the amp when I can get it to play but the amp is still not functioning correctly. I dont know what to do.

No apparent signs of damage to the box(es) means there is almost no chance in hell the shipping company will take responsibility, and it will be up to you to get your money back from the shipper. He might think him buying insurance will get him his money back on an amp he blew, but they are wise to this type of thing. Id tell the shipper your want you money back, and let him deal with trying to recoup from the insurance scam.

What options do I have if he doesn't want to give my money back?

Frankly, none.
That's why these kind of deals are as-is, no matter what the seller tells you otherwise.
Not what I wanted to hear but it is what it is I guess. Kind of makes me not want to buy anything off of here anymore. I just hope me and the seller can work something out.

Again, if you used paypal, you can file a dispute, and probably have the payment reversed. But it should be done asap, because if he removes the money from his paypal account, its no longer able to be reversed, or so Im told. Also be sure to document you returning the amp if you reverse funds, so the shipper cant say you reversed funds without returning the amp, in essence stealing the money from the payment. Again, talking to the shipping company, and paypal if that applies, will answer many of these questions. You seem reluctant to contact the shipping company since Ive suggested it more than once and you never seem to acknowledge you have, will, or wont.
