What happen to the head unit?

Hey, I have a friend, she and some of her other friends tried to hook up some subs and speakers, and an amp. Well they tried, now her Head unit, doesn't work. Any idea on what could have happen? You can't smell anything and there is no smoke?

"tried to hook up" that right there scares me..

they possibly could have wired it completely wrong....have u seen the wiring yourself?
