What gas mpg does your truck get?

As said driving habits are one of the best ways to improve milage, keeping the rpm around the sweet spot when, and not driving too fast. 55-65mph will probably net you the best mileage. One of the biggest things with trucks is also the aerodynamics, or lack of lol. Bit lower, a front air dam, a tonneau cover would all help out.

My truck gets about 16 with mostly back roads travel 40-50mph and a few stop signs and stuff. Highway I get around 18, but I usually am going around 80mph, I should be able to get around 21 or so if I drop down to 65.

air filter oil filters shift to nuetral on downhills. haha if a buddy has a f150 too go half on one of those programmers that dont have to stay installed and just split cost and then sell on ebay.
that neutral idea doesnt really do much... if your rolling downa hill for me in OD the revs stay around 650-800 if neutral it bumps it up a tiny bit say 750-900

thats just my car tho... and it is a pain to always switch it lol

also i read on something put nitrogen in your tires instead of regular air...

i guess nascar people do that trying to get every little thing they can to make the car lighter.. but who knows..

18 city and 24+ highway
93 ford ranger 4.0L 5 speed manual

mini-trucks FTW
Thats pretty good, the manual must be really helping ya. Is it 4x4? I know my buddy has an FX4 ranger all stock and he gets maybe 17 or so on the highway and only around 14-15 with mixed driving.

4x2 king cab and a 3.08 rear axle.(6ft? bed)

5th gear cruising about 70 is a little above 2k RPM

basically what everyone else said:
air filter

tire pressure

no lead foot

oil changes regularly

it is said to fill up ur tank b4 u get lower then 1/4's a tank

don't use AC

keep ur tailgate down or put a net there.

^^^

Anything that is going to improve the engines performance and efficiency.

Also, tire and rim size, a free flowing exhaust and intake, gearing. As well as a good tune.

don't remember where the article was, but that was proven false as well.

downgrading is the stupidest idea i've heard.

to downgrade you are most likely going to SPEND more money after trading in your current vehicle. in order to regain the difference you spend on the new vehicle will take an outrageously long time. even if you double your gas mileage.

for example. it costs me roughly 80$ to fill my 20 gallon tank. i have to refill every lets say every 320 miles for simplicity. thats 16 MPG. say i get a car that does double that... 32 MPG and it costs me 40$ to fill my 10 gallon tank. you get the same mileage half the cost. you saved a whopping 40$. now lets say you go through 2 tanks of gas a month... thats reasonable right?

so thats an average of 80$ a month saved. say i traded in my truck... '04 trailblazer, near mint condition.... i'll get MAYBE $6,500 trade in... if i'm lucky. (rough estimate there). say i want to pick up a new car its going to cost me another couple thousand dollars to make up that difference. for this example lets say i spend another $3,000. so that 80$ after trading in my truck will add up to about $960 a year. so it would take me a solid 3.5 YEARS to not even break even... and who knows what gas prices may do by then? not to mention i dont want to drive some ugly a$$ car that gets outrageous gas mileage.

Truck in my avatar gets about 10-12mpg if Im going light on the noise pedal. If Im driving it hard (aka having fun) then its more like 6-8 LOL. My 98 Sonoma with 4.3 gets about 20 on the freeway. But I never drive that anymore.

I spent $4900 to buy my motorcycle and have saved ~$500 in the first month on gas over either of my other vehicles.

with no trade in, I will gain back my investment in 10 months IF I continue on this trend

edit: and now I have a great savings account:D

my f-150 (2005) get about 11 city, and 15 highway. I also have a lead foot, and tendancies to speed. I didnt buy my f150 for its gas mileage, I bought it to haul stuff around in and granted I have honestly only done this like maybe 30-40 times, I did it with great style and lots of gas!
