what does "bottoming out" mean?

Sometimes depending on your electral system, your amplifier doesn't get the power it needs and can't "control" the output as well. The speaker gets a crappy signal and can't control its own movement and slams into the motor backplate.

This is very "lamens" terms so please no bashing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Can I get that in "technical" terms? I think I have been experiencing this with the shitty amp that I am using.
