What Do You Think Of Memphis Amps?

i havent had any real issues with the amps other than they arent efficient...

i did a side by side test with 7 batteries and a stock alty...

1 memphis 4kw

vs.

1 Sundown 3k

the voltage drop was down to the 12.0 -11.7 on both but the 3k was worth .8 dbs more on the mic.

of course the memphis would prolly do more power at a true 14.7 but this test was good for me...

What is an amp brake? I never had that option on my amplifiers. How do I get one of those? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Instead of turning it down, you step on a pedal.

Hmmm. Those must be newer Memphis stuff.. Since it's all in warranty and I imagine their sales are down quite a bit since 2007 or so, it's not that much of a surprise that I haven't seen any of their newer stuff here yet....

The older stuff is good, if you install it properly, don't overheat it (banging full volume on 4 hour trips in 100 degree weather!! yikes!), and don't mount it to a speaker box if at all possible, especially the 4K.

I like the 4K's, have rebuilt MANY of them but have never had more than maybe 1 come back after a rebuild. They repair pretty well. Especially with the extra soldering we do, prevents the "FET Leg Breakage from Vibration" problems that is the death of 99% of all 4K's that we have ever worked on.

I hope their new stuff is good. I have not even seen pics of the insides of any of it yet.
