I think they can be very useful, depending on what you need them to do...parametric or graphic, they each have their benefits and disadvantages.

An EQ is a tool, what are you trying to do with one?

Depends on if youre willing to put the time into tuning them correctly.

An EQ allows you to fine tune sound to your liking. Although I don't own one for my car, I do use my PC as an EQ for sound in the home. You can use soundcard drivers or program such as Winamp for this.

My guess is run the outputs from the head unit into the EQ. Then from the EQ out to the amp(s). I also take it the EQ could have separate outputs for both full range speaker amps and subwoofer amps.

I think most HU's have 3+ band EQ's so you might want to look for a bigger EQ like an 11 band to make it worth it.

What makes you think you NEED one? An eq is predominantly used as a bandaid solution by most people. The other people use it to solve and identified problem in their system that makes it 100% necessary. What boat are you in, problem or no problem?

no problem I just dont like the eq on mi hu so I think that the 4 band eq is ok..

could I change the sound of the sub with the eq make it deeper or lithter?
