What do I look for when buying an amp?

Im hoping to power my 2 components (dont have rear speakers, its a miata) and the sub... but is it even worth it to power the components? Im hoping I dont have to get more than one speaker.

Absolutely worth it!!No clipping/clean power/less distortion..why not??

That type r can be wired at 2 or 8 ohms. Loil for something that does said power rating @2ohms.

someone suggested this amp Kenwood KAC-9105D Mono subwoofer amplifier — 900 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com to power just the one sub. its got good reviews. any ideas?

You can get this 3 channel amp, 500 watts at 2 ohms assuming you wire the the alpine sub to 2 ohms and you have clean ab power to drive your polk components in the front for your Miata.

How much are you looking to spend and do you want to buy 2 amps or 1? You will want about 600@4 for the sub which is not easy in a single amp

i wouldnt buy from crutchfield not saying they dont have good selections just the prices are the killer. i would take a look in the for sale section here an on other forums you can find good deals for cheaper i bet.

But looks like these guys are doing a good job with there suggestions im sure you will find something good.

Quack buddy,I likes ya n all, but man..Ive bought Massive speakers, and amps, and they have never looked so beautiful other than in the bottom of my trash can..Speakers are trash, and cant handle rated/rms..not even 1/2 power, and the amps get too hott and burn up at 1/2 power..Massive to me, from experience =Trashive,Waste of our hard earned money.A Cheap SStream Rubicon would be better money spent,in my opinion..Folks..Please stay away from Massive products,unless you enjoy spending money,or like to send in for warranty, and get the same crap..I hope I didnt offend you Quack..I do likes ya,just trying to be straight up,from experiencing/wasting my own money:

AB, while I agree with you on the amps I don't really agree with the speakers post. I had the NX5 amp and it ******, always got hot and went into protect. I had to have a bullet fan right beside it going at all time to keep it cool enough. Off the amp I had the CK6's and they sounded ok off the amp, but muffled at hight volumes.

I switched to the Eclipse and it made a huge difference, I think the amps just ****. I had them bridged with the gain at 1/4 and they loved the power.

The way I read your post was that its hard to find a amp that does 600@4 Not one that does 600@ 4 and has 2 channels for the fronts.

I agree about the massive ck6's also, I had the mids in my doors and they sounded like poop at high volumes and eventually the passenger side blew. I wasn't all that impressed. They look tough as hell but couldn't take the roughly 100w I was giving them. Oh well they blew at the right time and i was able to pick up my HATs.
