What class of amps do you guys recommend for mains?

I just finished a my Amarok setup and have been really pleased with it, but starting to plan a new setup for Golf GTI, and wondering about what amps ill use, still on early stages of the planning, but wanted to learn a little more about amps, i had friends in the past say that AB is the way to go with mains and to avoid class d amps, that they are fine for subs, but that AB are better sound wise for speakers.

So i come to you guys to ask you, a very simple question, are today class D amps equal in sound quality with class AB, is it a myth? or is there a break point where class D is equal or better than AB?

A clean watt sounds like a clean watt. Class don't matter. A good amp is a good amp

Records have been broken with class D. Most top cars use class D. You can get way more power per footprint. That's what's important.
