verizon > sprint > cingular > nextel
then u have the small guys with shitty *** coverage like tmobile, qwest, and the boondocks carriers like cell one and bs.

sprint is closing in on verizon very fast. verizon is pulling out of radioshack so they are loosing the largest retail distributor for wireless and cingular is moving in january 1st. so once that happens, sprint will be the top dog, and cingular will be trying to increase coverage and service to that of sprint. its gonna take awhile though.

i can always tell a cingular customer when they walk in my store talking on their phone, because their call drops //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i am a sprint user, btw
uhh.. sprint and nextel are one company now. They merged. The way I see it out here is. Verizon > T-mobile > Sprint. But there are no other providers anyways. Sprint has the worst coverage out here. It's absolutely horrible.

I use MTS, which is in Manitoba, Canada and they **** big hairy monkey balls. The reason why I say this is cause, I don't even use the stupid thing and my cell bill is $70 every month. And the plan i'm on costs $25+tax a month, plus $5 for call display and $7 for minibrowser. Thats $37 right there before tax. With tax it's $42. And I can't cancel it until next month. I only got it for when i'm snowmobiling just in case I break down.
Screw that. Get an entry-level amateur radio license, buy a small handheld VHF or UHF radio, and not pay any more fees //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif From the sound of it, it'll pay for itself in two months...if all you use it for is emergencies, I'd rather have a more reliable source of communication than a cell phone.

that is very area dependant. in my area cingular has decent coverage, but verizon and next have better. and nextel is the only thing that works up in the mountains in lake tahoe.

I've had Sprint since my first cellphone. I've changed handsets and plans several times but I've kept Sprint as my carrier.

In my normal areas that I wander the coverage has shown to be more than sufficient in my part of the country.

according to this months consumer reports verizon is #1 in all but 1 of the cities they tested for service. the other city they were #2 by a close margin. their customer service owned all the other companies hands down. the facts dont lie...you get what you pay for. i had FREE cingular service minus the taxes and i switched to verizon 2 years ago because cingular was that bad 2 years ago. thats how much i like verizon. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and within the 1st year of a 2 year contract, if you break a phone, you get a refurbished on for free. no extra insurances needed!

the only real downside to verizon is the lack of good phones.

Anyway, I use Nextel. Nationwide service, unlimited 2 way, 500 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends..........less than 50 bucks/month.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sprint (2 years) > verizon (1 month) > nextel (1.5 years) > sprint (merged into, 2 months) > verizon (3 months and current)

sprint was good, but got expensive quick when you start using 2000+ minutes a month. I tried verizon then, hated them as they screwed my rate plan over, so I went to nextel. was happy for a long time, then sprint bought them, and it sucked again. . . now I am back to verizon. My rate plan is still messed up, i am calling them tonight to fix it up. . . hopefully they can do something about the 1000 IN texts i have been charged for when I wanted the unlimited IN texting thing but didn't get it. and i am signed up for v-cast in a non-v-cast area. . .

but as long as that gets fixed up, i think verizon would be the best to go for aslong as you have good coverage. they may nickle and dime you, but look at your bill and see if you deserve it or not.
