What causes engine noise thru subs??

I am almost positive its your RCA's needing a ground...

i had the same problem with my system about 6 months ago. it was my rca jacks on the h/u they weren't grounding right. i used a piece of wire and put it on the outside of the white rca cord then grounded it to a h/u screw.it worked but then finally just got a new h/u.hope it helps.

Thats what I am recomending him to do, that should take care of it...

Just a question....who came up with the idea of grounding RCA's and why does it work and why it is necessary??

I reall dont know, but it works. I have a friend who has a local car audio repair shop and he is the one that told me this a few years ago...

Thats what I am recomending him to do, that should take care of it...

Well just a lil update....I messed around with my pre-outs lastnight and not sure if they were lose or not but I rearranged them in the back of the deck as I put it back....if that makes any sense. The result?? No noise at all....very little now....but 100% better than what it was previously. Is the problem still there??? Probably. In due time, I'm sure it'll be back. Once I got more time on my hands, I'll dig deeper. But for now, I'm pretty happy about the outcome. As for the grounding of the amp, I didn't even touch it. But I know I'll have to search for a different, better ground.
