I have a car thats just been sittin and now that its getting warm I have time work and sell it. I need to take into town to get a CV Joint repair and to have it detailed. But it is not insured as no one is driving it. Is there some type of temporary insurance or do I have to put liability on it. I talked with an insurance agent and there was no short term insurance she knew of.

write up a bill of sale to a friend....and slap a temp plate on it. good for 30 days in my state:D

You can add it to your policy as per usual... then in a week call and cancel it... they will only up your bill by the pro-rated amount for the time it was covered. You are not required to insure a car for a certain length of time, especially if you still keep the insurance on your other vehicle.

For example... you call 'em up, it's gonna cost $60 a month to add this car as a 2nd vehicle on your policy. So you add it, and a week later call and drop it... $60/4 = $15 (assuming 4 weeks in that month).

No sweat, people do this all the time.

Just make sure you're covered, you don't wanna get f00ked if some freak accident happens.

Looks like this may be the route to go

do the repair and clean it your self. problem solved
Dont have the equipment or parts

carry your current insurance card with you when you go
?? So when I get pulled over in a civic I hand him insurance to a ford focus.
