What can a RE8 handle?

Ok going to buy 4 RE8's for my truck so I was going to throw like 800 watts at them and found a Kicker Kx850.4 which does 425@4ohmsX2 is roughly 215 watts to each sub is that to much to give an RE8 or is that ok. If you have another amp that'll work better please post. Thanx in advance.

Set the gains right, and you should be fine.

make sure u put them in a small sealed box so that mechanically it can handle the power but thermally i doubt it.just watch the gains as mentioned earlier

Going in about .7 cuft for a pair. Or should I just go with the Rl-i8's? More money but more power.

it took a 1.0 cuft box, a 40hz tone, and 400 watts of RMS power to kill an RE 8 during the great 8 challenge....

I would assume it has the same coil as the RE 12"??? I have been told that you can throw 250w-300rms daily with no problems, up to 600w on burps. I believe I have that info correct.

I hat 4 re8's in a 2cu box tuned to 35 with a 900 on em and they took it altho every once in a while I'd bottom them out (no ssf)

i have 4 re8's in my truck...powered by a planet audio 1250.1 i believe each sub is getting bout 200-250 rms....and that shit rumbles...many people soil thier panties when they find out whats lurking behind the rear seat.....

I would recomend the RL-i instead for sure!

Just 2 of them ported is insane. I can't imagine 4 sealed or ported. That would be nice.

The RL-i8 stopms all over the RE8.

They are about double the price but well worth it

Oh and they can take 500 watts rms so a 2000 watt amp would be ideal
