What are your favorite blues albums/songs???

Call me crazy, but I don't care much for music's origin or history, I just care if I turn it on and at this day and age it moves me. When/where/how it was made doesn't change my decision to listen to it or not.
Some may consider my music appreciation shallow, I know.
Sometimes I can't help but think about the context, sometimes not...

For example, Hendrix doing "Machine Gun" at the Fillmore New Year's Eve of '69 is just amazing, it's hard to separate the context of Vietnam going on from that, but it's a great musical performance regardless...

they deserved alot more compensation and recognition than what they got.
well look at our country...we didnt support our own artists like we should have at that time. it was during the civil rights movement and things were really black/white. we would have sent them up shits creek without a paddle...the UK gave them a chance to stay afloat.

well, i listen to music that motivates me. blues makes you wanna kill your ex and sleep with black women. again, i'm not a fan of either
Some of the best songwriting is about things that are very unpleasant...doesn't mean you have to approve. I love Dylan's "Ballad of Hollis Brown", doesn't mean I condone taking a shotgun to my family before committing *******.

Very true, there are key points in time with music, that is hard to ignore. Usually my points in time with music are my own experiences where the music fits in. While I can see music being relevant to certain timeframes in the past, I'm sure the people that actually heard the music at the time were moved more than I ever could be by it.

...if that makes sense
