What are the best 6-3/4 Coax?

Hello all,

Just looking on opinions of what the best sounding 6-3/4" co-axial speakers are. They're going to be following an Alpine 164BT head unit in a Jeep Liberty. Not going to be running any amps or sumps or anything. Just a basic setup, that sounds decent is the end goal. It's for my girlfriend's Jeep. She doesn't want to go all in and build a full system, just to make the best out of a basic setup. Let me know what you have experience with or if you have any suggestions. Thanks

I wouldn't dare say best but if your looking for a set that sounds nice on h/u power then the Polk and Alpine type S coaxials are something to consider.

All good looking speakers so far, definitely all on the table for purchases. Would definitely love to hear any other opinions if they're out there. I know coax isn't ideal and I know h/u power isn't ideal. We're just wanting to get something that will sound decent so she can play some tunes and have them sound pretty good for commuting around. She doesn't want/need anything too elaborate, but we would like to get it to sound as good as possible for what it is.

Also, was looking around some more tonight. I stumbled across the Alpine KTP-445U amp. It's really compact, and can be fit pretty much anywhere. I was thinking about maybe getting that with the coaxs to go with the Alpine 164, hopefully that would bring the speakers to life a little bit. Any opinions? From my understanding a lot of the aftermarket speakers really love to be driven and sound better with some power behind them. I thought this might help liven them up a little bit. It sounds like it can be run as a 4 channel amp at 45 watts per channel or can be bridged to a 2 channel amp at 90 watts per channel.

I guess this leads me to another question. Would I need to run it in 4 channel mode to power all 4 speakers or could I run it in 2 channel mode to get more power out of it, but redistribute that power to all 4 speakers? I guess what I don't understand (well, one of the things) is if you bridge to two channels for 90w and put two speakers per channel will that send 90w to each speaker or send 45w to each speaker?

Definitely have some really nice options to look over.

Bridge them to the front and leave the rear on head unit power.

I had these in a 2000 Taurus on HU power. They sounded good, especially the tweeters. A friend had the same speakers on an amp. They sounded even better. The D series are the only pioneer speakers I ever recommend.

I have that powerpak amp in my set up, yes it can he bridged. As stated previous, bridge it to front speakers running the rear off the hu, it will work wonders.

Do these speakers need to play bass or does your girlfriend's Jeep have a subwoofer?

Why would you consider a power pack when you have outputs for a real amp. U can get a small amp kit like a ppi i520.4 for the same price as the power pack and a decent 4 gauge amp kit for 20$
