What about a JL Audio 500/1? Saw a few in my budget.

That Type-R is gonna be able to handle way more then 500RMS, just so you know

Go with a Zapco amp =). But I got a 500/1 pushing a 12w6v2. My friend had a type R 12 inch and used the 500/1 to push it. That should be sufficient.

Isn't JL Audio>Hifonics? I really want an amp that'll last a long time, and not give out so quickly like my pos kenwood that I had. My old JL Audio sub lasted me like 5 years after I bought it used. JL is what I might go with...

i find JL overpriced for their quality, but if you want JL, then get JL, its your setup heh
