What amp to use and how much could I sell these for?

I bought a 12" Kicker Comp VR dual 4 ohm. I'd prefer to run it in parallel. But I'm not the smartest with subs/amps. So...I'm on a cheaper budget, not looking for anything super expensive. I'm looking around crutchfield for an amp/box to buy as well. I don't care if it's used or new, as long as it's in decent shape and working.

What would be a good amp to run with that sub on a budget?

Also what kind of box would be best with it? On some comments, some were saying a 1.5 cu ft sealed box would be best, but I was thinking of running the 1.8 cu ft ported box on crutchfield's website. Really, I'm looking for more power.

I also would like to sell and get rid of my

JL G1300 monoblock 300W amp

JL 10w3

JL sealed enclosure

There's some light scratches on the grill/cover for the sub, not actual sub scratches and some light scratches on the amp. How much could I get for that?

Alright so if I run this amp at 2 ohms it's 500W RMS

Alpine MRP-M500 Mono subwoofer amplifier 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms at Crutchfield.com

Since on the sub it says it only runs 50-400watts would that be too much or would I be fine running that?

And on the box, I still can't decide between ported vs sealed. I would like a louder sound so I was thinking the ported but then on that rating the guy says that a sealed would sound better and louder on this sub.

Also another unrelated question, I have the stock navi unit in my car and it didn't have an RCA connection so I used a connector that spliced into my rear speaker wire and converted to RCA. Because of this, to have bass at my sub I have to have the bass turned up on the head unit going to the speakers.

One of my co-workers has the same thing done in his car and he suggested this to me. I can't remember the exact value of the capacitors, but connecting them before the speaker and it filters out bass over a certain frequency? I have actually gone up and listened to his car to see how well it works or anything. But is there any other way so that I can reduce the bass out of the speakers?

Thanks mcleric.

I was looking at getting this: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ALPINE-MRP-M500-CAR-AUDIO-MONO-AMPLIFIER-AMP-500W_W0QQitemZ290426078355QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Amplifiers?hash=item439ebe4493

Running it 2 ohms @ 500w rms.

So you think I should get the Cadence 1400watt and run it at 4 ohms for 700w rms? Is it okay to power that kicker sub with 700w rms when it's only 400w rms?

What about a box? What would you suggest? I was just going to get the ported box off of crutchfield that's 1.8 cu ft. Or should I get a box from somewhere else? Sealed or ported? Thanks again.

i would def get a box somewhere local, yes i would get the more powerful amp, the cvr will be fine, 2 be honest i would get the mb quart as it is a 1ohm stable amp. run it at 2 ohms on the mb quart, say one day you want to get a better 1000rms sub down the line you will already have an amp you can run at 1 ohm

Thanks a lot. is the MB quart reliable or a decent brand, never really heard of their stuff.

I'm putting it in a hatchback, 09 gti

they make good stuff mb never had a problem

will fit inside like this

if not i would have a local shop or someone on here build you a box, a lil while back someone on here was building boxes for 30 bucks something ridicules. viveet has been know not make amazing boxes, dont buy pre-fab an enclosure is one of the most important parts of your system

Yeah I've seen a couple of those boxes at VW get togethers, they just all seemed very quiet, clean bass and clean looking though.

Alright, how much average would a shop charge to build a box?

Also for the Kicker would you suggest a ported or sealed?

Well I can still cancel my order for the kicker. I had heard a lot of good reviews and on crutchfield they're selling buy one get one free, I was going to sell one to somebody for $75 and so I was only paying $75 for the kicker.

The 10w3 doesn't hit very well at all. I love JL but a the 300w mono and 10w3 just don't hit ANYWHERE as loud as I want, and my my coworker running the Kicker CVR is pretty **** loud.

I will cancel the order for the CVR though if it's not that good of a sub? What subs would you guys suggest? I'm really trying to stay on a budget here. Which is why I went for that CVR, $75 is a pretty cheap price.

what subs would you recommend? I'm going for louder than my current 300w and 10w3, but still clean. I only want one sub, don't want to take up a lot of room.

and I'm going to probably go ahead and get that MB quart amp you had recommended, would you say that's a reliable brand/make? I've never heard of them.

thanks for all the help man.
