What amp to power PG comps?

ok, so i already have an amp powering my 12" type R, now i want to get components. I am pretty set on the Phoenix Gold RSD65CS . Now i just need to pick out an amp. i am on a tight budget, so i want something pretty cheap. right now i am looking at two channel amps in the 50-100W RMS x 2 channel @ 4 ohms. is this even what i should be looking for? and if anyone has a good amp to reccomend that would power these speakers good then PLEASE LMK.

as cheap as i can get. hoping to spend less than 120 shipped for an amp. and if i got a 4 channel amp would i have to bridge it? i dont really know alot about all this, just learning. and 175w isnt too much? the speakers are rated at 5-60W. i know i can overpower them a bit, but that is almost tripling it

wait, 50W x 2 @ 4 ohm. that dosent sound like too much...am i confused?and i would really like to spend less than that
ACTUAL POWER OUTPUTS AS MEASURED BY ROCKFORD 223 Watts x 2 RMS @ 4 ohms

315 Watts RMS x 2 @ 2 ohms

346 Watts RMS x 2 @ 1 ohms

838 Watts RMS x 1 @ 2 ohms THD 80 DBA @ 2 vrms 12 Db per octave x crossover 40 Hz - 400 Hz adjustable Dimensions 2.3" H x 12.8" W x 13.6" L
Amp is a beast.

Yeah 175 is a bit much, but that's what the gain knob is for //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

All it takes to bridge it is wiring it to a specific + and - on the amp, it even gives a picture in the manual, haha.

Most people give the RSD's between 120-150, and they take it fine. The tweeters do tend to smoke after 150 in my personal experience though.

RATED POWER OUTPUTS:

50 Watts x 2 RMS @ 4 ohm 100 Watts x 2 RMS @ 2 ohms

150 Watts x 2 RMS @ 1 ohm 300 Watts x 1 RMS @ 2 ohms

ACTUAL POWER OUTPUTS AS MEASURED BY ROCKFORD

223 Watts x 2 RMS @ 4 ohms

315 Watts RMS x 2 @ 2 ohms

346 Watts RMS x 2 @ 1 ohms

838 Watts RMS x 1 @ 2 ohms

i thought that the rated power output would be more accurate. to me "as measured by rockford" sounds like their peak power. again, i am new to this, so dont hate on me too much if im wrong.

and yeah, 223W is a bit too much...

i would much rather give it a little less than blow my speakers.

and that kicker amp looks excellent. i was actually looking at mostly kicker amps before. unless someone can change my mind, i might buy that one on ebay.

That 350.2 would do the job excellently, I ran the same amp, just the 4 channel version. It's a great amp, hasn't overheated on me and sends a clean signal. No complaints from me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

nope 175 is not to much. i had 5 times the rated (60watts rms) power on mine. i had 300 per side... and active to boot. they will take it fine. it's all about dynamics and keeping the signal clean without clipping.

****. well i think ill still just go with that kicker amp.

BTW, i saw in another thread that you put the PG's in a tc. i drive a tc too. i am gunna mount my tweets in the kick panel like you did. do you think that is the best place for them?

any other tips i should know when installing components in a tc?

****! another tc owner!?!?!? this car is getting waAay to popular. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

the kick panels are not a bad place, very easy to install them down there, and it looks good as well. keeps the look really simple. only problem is lack of stage height.

i did however a month or so ago move my tweeters up into the pillars. i tried them there in a few different position for a couple weeks and finally decided to make them more permanent. i now have my tweeters mounted on-axis ear level in the pillars. i prefer the pillars now that i tried them there.

if you can sacrifice the stage height then do the kicks. also i'm not sure how good it would be to put the tweeters so far from the mids when running passive.

everything else is pretty straight forward really. have you deadened your doors or plan to? that i would highly recommend.
