what amp to power a Pioneer TS-W259D4 sub

Hi,

i just purchased a Pioneer TS-W259D4 subwoofer.

the sub says 350W RMS Power Handling. Is this the MAX power or nominal power? that's why im not sure which of the two would be better.

Which amp will power this better.

Pioneer GM 3400t

Peak Music Power 300 Watts

Number of Channels 2

Load Impedance Capability 2~8 Ohm (Stereo)

4~8 Ohm (Bridged)

Continuous Power (4 ohm) 65W x 2

Any other recommendations are great as well!

The 350 is the nominal power (RMS). The sub is a dual 4 ohm so that means it's going to be wired to 2 ohm or 8 ohm. So neither of these amps is going to do it for you as neither one is stable bridged to 2 ohm. Why not get a small mono d amp?

first off that is the nominal power (350w) that sub will do a MAX of 1200w so you want an amp that will do at least 300w or more. just be sure to follow the directions on this site for setting the proper gains

second if you are only going to run the one i would look into a Class D mono amp (if your budget allows get something with extra power for expanding your options later) OR bridge the GM5400t and wire the sub like this.

If you want to stick with Pioneer this is relatively cheap and would work very well with what you've got. Either that or check out the classifieds here and grab something for cheaper.

You're not going to get much power doing the above wiring diagram..... Lol!

im a little confused here. The sub is rated 350W @ 4ohms, correct? The 5400t amp can be bridged at 300W @ 4ohm. Doesn't that match? Please fill in what ever concept i am missing here.

also note, im more looking for quality vs boom. I am reading that it's better for 4OHM for sound quality.
